Stop Motion Animation 2-Day Course: Bring Your Ideas to Life Frame by Frame!
Step into the fascinating world of animation and discover how still images become moving stories! This hands-on 2 day course introduces children to the art of 2D stop motion animation, where creativity meets technique.

Over two fun-filled days, participants will learn the core principles of animation—timing, motion, and storytelling—and apply them to create their very own short animated clip. From concept to screen, every step is a chance to explore, experiment, and express.

What You’ll Learn:

  • How to plan and storyboard your ideas
  • Techniques for smooth motion and engaging narratives
  • Patience, problem-solving, and creative thinking

By the end of Day 2, each child will have produced a short animated clip to share with friends and family—a proud moment of artistic achievement!

Matthew Pottinger
I’m Matthew, also known as X7 in some of my creative projects. With over 20 years in the creative industry and 15 years of teaching experience, I bring a wealth of expertise as a photographer, filmmaker, and educator. My work has included collaborations with leading broadcasters such as the BBC, Channel 4, and ITN, and spans music videos, corporate films, commercials, short dramas, animations, and independent feature films. Passionate about sharing knowledge, I offer a wide range of audiovisual services—from camerawork and post-production to animation and music creation—while fostering an inclusive environment for learners of all skill levels. I work with schools, youth centres, and professional organisations, supporting neurodiverse young people and adults with physical or neurological challenges. My mission is to empower individuals to build confidence, develop transferable skills, and tell their own stories, creating opportunities for growth and positive change. Many of my students have gone on to exhibit their work and enter the media industry, and I remain committed to ensuring that creative opportunities are accessible to all.
