This October marks the 36th Black History Month (BHM), a national awareness campaign which recognises and celebrates the contributions of Black people to the economic, cultural and political life in the UK. This year's national theme is 'Time for Change: Actions Not Words'.
As part of the BHM celebrations this year, Barnet's 0-19 Early Help Service are inviting children and young people to participate in several activities that are focusing on celebrating black culture. From African/Caribbean Cooking to Afro-Caribbean Hairdressing, African Caribbean inspired Arts & Crafts, Caribbean Carnival Headdress making and many more - we have so many to choose from.
To end the month-long celebrations, on 26 October, we will be hosting a Back History Month Showcase at Canada Villa Youth Centre. Includes includes a selection of authentic Caribbean and African food, entertainment, music, fashion show, a special guest(s) and more.
Spaces are limited, so reserve a ticket for the day book now - please note a nominal donations entry on the door (CASH only).
