My Say Matters

My Say Matters

Children and young people helped us develop the My Say Matters strategy. Many of which have told us that they know they have a right to be heard and they have lots to say.

The ‘My Say Matters Child Participation and Family Involvement Strategy’ has changed the way we work. Barnet Family Services are committed to seeking, listening to, and acting on feedback from children, young people and their families. What they say really does matter to us. We now have a series of films that capture feedback and showcases all the work we have done as a result of what the young people have said.

YJS

Youth Justice Service

We work with young people who have committed an offence and are aged between 10 and 18 years. We support them to help make changes in their lives so they do not re-offend or cause further harm to the community. This includes promoting restorative justice and working with victims.

BarNET ZERO

BarNET ZERO - Barnet resident's recommendations on Climate Change and Biodiversity

We’ve committed Barnet to becoming a net zero carbon borough by 2042 and as a council by 2030. This year, Barnet's first-ever Citizens' Assembly on Climate Change and Biodiversity, brought together 40 randomly selected residents to develop recommendations in response to the question: "Barnet has declared a climate emergency. What more can we do together to make Barnet more sustainable now and in the future?" In parallel to this, 20 residents aged 12-17 participated in a Young People’s Assembly. The two groups came together, to develop ideas and recommendations on how we can achieve net zero carbon in Barnet by 2042. The council will provide a formal response to these recommendations at the end of this year.
